Client: Perimeter Development

Architects: Dubbeldam Architecture + Design

A three-storey immersive installation, constructed from 8,000 coloured discs on 650 cables for a lobby atrium of a building on King Street in the City of Kitchener

Sixpenny provided design consultation, fabrication and installation for this award winning piece

    • Custom made steel ceiling brackets to support 650 cables

    • Stainless steel aircraft cable with copper crimps

    • Approximately 8,000 discs made from 3/16” coloured acrylic

    • Sixpenny worked with Dubbeldam to create a parametric model of the installation to balance the colour shift and gradient

    • This model was broken down into strand sequences and used to organize all the parts to achieve the gradient effect

    • We pre-assembled all of the strands using custom tooling

    • Install was completed over a number of days in the fall of 2020
