Intermediate Fabricator
About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and dependable Intermediate Fabricator to join our fabrication team.
This role involves interpreting technical drawings, fabricating metal components, and assembling high-quality architectural and artistic features.
You will work independently and collaboratively, operating a variety of tools and machinery while maintaining a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.
What You’ll Be Doing
Welding & Fabrication
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to fabricate metal components.
Perform MIG, TIG, Stick, and Arc welding on steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
Operate metalworking equipment such as shears, press brakes, saws, and grinders.
Ensure high-quality welds and fine finishes through precision grinding, sanding, and polishing techniques.
Assembly & Machine Operation
Assemble fabricated components into finished products.
Support senior fabricators and machinists in machine setup and operation.
Operate and maintain machinery including lathes, milling machines, and drill presses.
Material Handling & Logistics
Safely move raw materials and finished products using forklifts, pallet jacks, or by hand.
Perform local deliveries and pickups as needed using company vehicle.
Assist with packing, labeling, and preparing outgoing shipments.
Receive and inspect incoming materials and report discrepancies.
Shop Organization & Safety
Maintain a clean and organized work area with tools in proper condition.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement efforts.
Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
Report equipment issues and perform basic maintenance where appropriate.
Quality Control & Communication
Conduct inspections and participate in quality assurance checks on fabricated goods.
Assist in implementing corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members regarding job status and issues.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required based on experience).
Certification in metal fabrication, welding, or a related field preferred.
Valid Full G driver’s license an asset
CWB welding certifications an asset.
Scissor lift and forklift certifications (or willingness to obtain).
Experience & Industry Knowledge
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in welding, metal fabrication, fitting, and assembly.
Working knowledge of metalworking processes and quality standards.
Technical & Practical Skills
Proficiency with welding equipment, press brakes, shears, saws, and manual machine tools.
Ability to use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
Skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
Work Ethic & Soft Skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
Reliable, punctual, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Strong communication and willingness to take direction.
Ability to adapt to changes in workflow, project priorities, and shop needs.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs).
Ability to work in various environmental conditions (heat, noise, fumes).
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Compensation
$26–$34/hour, based on experience and skill level.
After a 3-month probation period this role includes access to health benefits, a group payroll contributions program, and 2 paid sick days annually.
