Junior Designer

About the Role

We’re looking for a Junior Designer to join our Design team. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded, creative thinker who’s eager to grow their skills in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

You’ll work closely with our design leads and fabrication team to support project development and documentation. The Junior Designer will assist in material take-offs, 3D modeling, creating submittals and fabrication drawings, and exporting files for digital fabrication processes.

This role requires strong attention to detail, curiosity, and the confidence to ask questions to ensure clarity and precision in all tasks.

What You’ll Be Doing

Drafting & Documentation

  • Assist with the development and revision of 2D and 3D drawings using SolidWorks and other design software. (Metal fabrication focused, including weldments and sheet metal features)

  • Prepare clear and accurate submittals and shop drawings for internal use and client review

  • Maintain organized drawing files and help manage project documentation

  • Process drawing corrections and design change requests as required

  • Support the creation of manufacturing/installation instructions and technical documentation

  • Maintain a file library of product designs, styles, and components

Estimating & Procurement Support

  • Collaborate with fabrication leads to factor in labor hours and shop processes

  • Perform material take-offs from architectural and shop drawings for new project estimates

  • Work with vendors and suppliers to gather pricing and lead times

  • Prepare BOMs to support procurement

Communication & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with senior designers and fabricators to ensure design intent and manufacturability

  • Participate in team meetings, design reviews, and occasional site measurements

  • Work closely with project managers and manufacturing personnel to resolve issues and ensure seamless communication

Continuous Improvement & Safety

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training sessions

  • Comply with health and safety regulations and company policies

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2 years of relevant experience or a post-secondary diploma/degree in industrial design, architecture, engineering, or related field

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks

  • Experience with Rhino, Fusion 360, E-drawings, and SketchUp an asset

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications accurately

  • Strong attention to detail and curiosity to ask questions when clarification is needed

  • Organized and capable of balancing multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Willingness to learn and participate in professional development opportunities

Salary Range

  • $55,000-$65,000 annually, based on experience and skill level.

  • After a 3-month probation period this role includes access to health benefits, a group payroll contributions program, and 2 paid sick days annually.
